From the inside
What it is like to be a Four
You notice the gap between how things are and how they could feel. You feel things deeply, and ordinary life can seem flat. You compare yourself to others and often come up short, or different. Being understood matters enormously.
Below the line
When the pattern runs you
You withdraw into your feelings or dramatize them. Comparison turns into envy, or into quiet suffering no one else is allowed to see. You push people away to test whether they will stay.
Above the line
When you see it and choose
You find meaning in what is already here. Your feelings move through you instead of defining you. You stay steady, and your depth becomes a place others can rest in.
Nobody lives above the line. The work is noticing sooner when you have dropped below it.

The three Four subtypes
Which instinct leads changes how the type shows up. Two Fours can look very different. A countertype can look like another type entirely.

The Endurer
The stoic Four. Suffers without showing it, works hard, endures rather than dramatizes.

The Authentic
The sensitive, self-questioning Four. Envy turns inward as comparison; attuned to feeling and to what is unsaid.

The Contender
The intense Four. Longing becomes demand; expresses hurt outward, can be sharp, refuses to be ordinary.
