What you tell Emma is personal. Here is who can see it, what we never do with it, and the controls you hold. The full legal policy is linked at the bottom.

Sell your data
We do not sell your personal information. Ever.
Use it for ads
Nothing you tell Emma is shared with advertisers or used to target ads.
Train AI on it
Your conversations are not used to train Anthropic's models.
Show you to others
Nothing you tell Emma is shown to another member, and she never builds her picture of you from what someone else says, except in the one opt-in case below.
Who sees what
Your material stays yours
Your private chats, your interview, your personal reflections, your Book of You and Emma's full picture of you are yours alone, unless you choose otherwise.

Your controls
Switches you hold
You will find all of these in Emma's settings. Most are on by default so Emma can do her job. One is off until you turn it on.
Memory On by default
Lets Emma remember you between conversations. Turn it off and every conversation starts from nothing.
What Emma knows about your life
See the facts Emma holds about your life, such as your work, family and current season. Correct any of them, or tell her to forget one permanently. She will not quietly learn it back.
Your circle On by default
Now and then, Emma may ask someone in your circle one light question about you, and ask you about them. What she hears is never shown to anyone, never quoted and never attributed. Turn it off any time. One-on-one coaching clients are never asked about.
Gentler teammates On by default
If you use Emma at work, she can let your teammates' Emma know you are carrying more than usual, so they go easier. She passes on a single yes or no and never the reason. Anything tender, like health, money, grief or your marriage, is never included.
Your calendar Off until you connect it
Connect your calendar and Emma can see the shape of your week to help you plan. She cannot change it, nothing is stored, and only your own Emma sees it.
Export and delete
Ask for a copy of everything and you will have it within 14 days. Ask us to delete your account and we will, within 30 days, including what Emma remembers about you.
Ads on our sales page
The one place we measure ads
When you buy the typing package after clicking one of our ads, we tell Meta that a purchase happened so we know the ad worked. We send the ad-click code, Meta's own browser code, your IP address and your browser type. We do not send your email, your name or anything about your assessment.
The Meta pixel loads only on that one public sales page. It never runs inside Emma. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, both halves switch off.

This is a summary. The Emma privacy policy is the full, binding version. Deleting Emma's copy of your data cannot recall a temporary copy a provider already processed.
Privacy questions
Can my coach read my conversations with Emma?
No. An assigned coach cannot read your private chats, interview, personal reflections, Book of You or Emma's full picture of you. If you want your coach to see more, you can turn on sharing in your settings, and turn it off again.
Can my boss see what I tell Emma?
No. A team lead sees insights about the team as a whole. Your private conversations are never shown to anyone at work, and requests to export or delete your data never go through your team lead.
If I delete my account, is everything gone?
We delete your account and what Emma remembers about you within 30 days. A temporary copy already processed by a provider, such as Anthropic's up-to-30-day copy, expires on that provider's schedule.
Do you read my conversations?
Big Self School looks at anonymous counts, and a pattern only counts when five or more people share it. The exception is safety: if Emma detects that someone may be in danger, a minimal alert is raised. See how that works.
